Significance of Technology in Education
Growing up in a digital world, today’s generation is constantly surrounded by technology. Just a few years after being born, kids of today start using smartphones, tablets and laptops. Every school-goer is using one or the other digital device after school. It has become an everyday experience for them and this shows how tech savvy today’s kids are. As most entrance exams including IIT-JEE Entrance exam are increasingly being conducted online today, knowing how to use technology at a tender age is quite useful.
Technology has brought about a massive change in the way education was perceived earlier. Gone are the days when students went to the library to refer to books, reference books and guides. Now, with just a few clicks, they can avail all the information from Google. The entire concept of teaching methodology and learning has changed and new and better ways have arrived. These new ways are due to the technical advancements that have made learning an interesting experience for all. Now students no longer depend on the rote ways of learning, but actively participate in learning through e-learning modules. Coaching institutes like K12 Aspire and other NEET Exam Coaching Centers are making the perfect use of this new technology.
Today, classroom teaching has become more innovative with white boards. Black boards have become a thing of the past. White boards rely on the presentation style and thereby grasp the attention of students by involving them in interactive learning. As learning styles are changing, teachers have to keep themselves updated with the latest technological development with regards to education.
Classrooms are continuously evolving and embracing the digital revolution. Most teachers including those teaching at some coaching centers for IIT Exam Preparation are now becoming more and more tech savvy. Also, they are binding together technology and education by infusing them in the right manner. This is helping in increasing student engagement, thereby making learning a lot simpler and fun filled.
People, in general, think that technology is quite distracting and disruptive for children. This is quite true because as every coin has two sides, technology also has its limitations. But if used within limits, technology is a boon for students. Hence, we should always be on the lookout for the positive aspects of technology and help students benefit from them. Blending technology with education will really help for a better tomorrow.
Even though blackboard and chalk pieces are sufficient for imparting education, we need to teach our children through technologically advanced means of education. However, it does not mean that we should discard the traditional form of education. In fact, teachers should develop such teaching strategy wherein they impart education with a mixture of both traditional and latest technology methods. For instance, foundation education courses can be best taught with a blend of both technologically advanced and traditional methods.
Hence, technology is good but both teachers and students should learn how to handle it within its limits. There should also not be any over-dependence on technology.
